A 17-year-old boy was killed Friday night when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver in Rancho Palos Verdes, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Ho Seok Suh, 55, of Rancho Palos Verdes, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

He posted bail Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. when the suspect, driving a 2004 Lexus south in the 30400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, hit three cars at the curb, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Don Wolak.

The area is near Robert E. Ryan Community Park.

The victim has been identified as Sean Heffernan, a Palos Verdes High School student and athlete.

After striking the parked cars, the suspect’s car veered left and drove over a raised concrete median, coming to rest in the northbound lanes.

When officers arrived, Wolak said Suh failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Lomita jail where he was charged and spent the night.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
